How to find out your horoscopic sign:

There are a total of 12 horoscopic signs, and they repeat in cycles. Your sign is determined by your year of birth.

For example:

1980 monkey
1981 rooster
1982 dog
1983 pig
1984 mouse
. .
. .

However, because of the difference between the western calendar and its Chinese counterpart, the first days of year of the two systems are different.

According to Chinese Feng Shui system, the first day of each year is the "first day of spring," which is always Feb 4 in western calendar (with a few exceptions where it is Feb 5 instead). So, if one is born in 1981 before February 4, his/her sign is monkey. If after, then his/her sign is rooster.

What if a person is born on Feb 4? In that case the division comes down to whether the person is born before or after the first hour of spring, which varies every year.

Our database stores the information of the "first day and hour of spring" of every year from 1901 to 2004, so we can give you an accurate result, even in the most complicated cases.

How to figure out the directions of your house:

Establishing the directions of a space is the first step to using and understanding Feng Shui. Here is a simple way to do it:

1. On a piece of paper, draw a sketch of the floor plan
2. Divide it into 9 areas
3. Use a compass to determine which area is North
4. From there you can establish the which direction each area represents, with the middle area being "the middle"

As you notice, the focus here is not the "facing" directions (±ŠV), but the "seating" directions (§€ŠV). Thus when something is to be placed in the North West direction, it means that thing should sit within the area marked North West.
